Controls

In this installation we turned automated news reading into a soundscape. We wanted to represent the ever more prominent influence of technologies such as natural language processing in the way we read news. The user had the power of modulating the sound through a special console, that had unusual parameters as controls such as ‘Trumpiness’ or ‘Truthfulness’.

This artwork wants to raise some fundamental questions around the topic of automation in the information curation. How much do we want algorithms to cater information for us? When humans will not be able to tell what is real from what is fake can technology assist us? Is technology obviating education in this realm?
